Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of receiving a great overall grade, this facility also received top notch government inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our best grades in this area, with an A. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category generally have few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This facility is also above average in the area of short-term care, where it was given a grade of B+. It performed better than most facilities in this area. Our short-term care grade is generally used to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To provide quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home provided registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.7 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to another strength for this nursing home, we gave them one of our more favorable grades in our long-term care category as well, with a grade of B. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 91.75532 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be somewhat less than we anticipated but still a respectable percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next area we rated was nursing, in which this facility received a B-. Although this turned out to be its weakest category grade, this is still not the end of the world. Nursing ratings are tied to quality and quantity of nursing care. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, nursing ratings also consider quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this facility actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a place has quality controls in place. Many falls could be avoided if a facility provides enough nurses aids to assist its patients.
