Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we did not rate this facility well overall, we wanted to note its decent government inspection reports in recent years. We gave it a somewhat respectable grade of B- in that category. Inspection ratings are based on many pieces of information located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important thing to look for on these reports. Severe deficiencies indicate a threat to the well being of residents. This particular nursing home received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

The next most favorable category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the category of long-term care, where we awarded it a C. Long-term care ratings are based in part on the facility's quantity of nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of personal care services, ranging from help with activities of daily living to routine healthcare services. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination statistics. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 89.18469 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Fortunately, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

We also awarded this nursing home a solid score in the area of short-term care, where we gave it a C. In computing these short-term care scores, we assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The key is determining what effect this had on quality of care. The final metric we looked at in this area is the number of residents who eventually returned home from the facility. We found that just 5.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

This facility's least impressive category is nursing, which is the final category we scored. In this area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D. There are a variety of factors within this category. Most of the subcategories reflect the quantity of nurse staffing. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. On top of its subpar nursing hours, this facility also received suboptimal marks in several of the quality-based metrics we considered in computing our nursing grades. We found that more of this nursing home's patients experienced falls which led to major injury.
