Facility Inspections
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were category G through L deficiencies. This indicates inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to present an imminent risk to resident safety or health. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the area of short-term care, this nursing home was awarded just a D in this category. Sadly, this wound up being one of its better grades. Short-term care ratings are important for prospective residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this place was well below average in terms of the number of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients that were able to return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality
Another concern was the F this nursing home received in the category of long-term care. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination record. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 98.17073 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this facility also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, a few of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The last area we looked at was nursing. This nursing home was given an abysmal grade of F in that area. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of those nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. On top of ranking below average in nursing hours per resident, this place also had poor marks in the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of residents sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This place was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in both of these statistics. This is a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These statistics pulled down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
