To go along with its decent overall grade, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for its inspection grade. This is far better than the facility's overall score. Arguably the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection scores is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is certainly an excellent sign for this facility.

This facility's next best area was long-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a B-. In computing our long-term care ratings, we analyze the personal care received by the nursing home's patients. Once we finished looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. We were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated only 70.55556 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Nevertheless, this place excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

We awarded this facility just a D for our short-term care grade. This is not one of our better scores. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to forge a valuable gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Based on its poor score in this category, we were not shocked to discover that this nursing home provided substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final measure we assessed in this area is the number of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.

The final area we analyzed was nursing, which proved to be this nursing home's weakest category. It received an F for this category, which is obviously a major concern. Our nursing rating assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses and the number of hours spent with residents. This place offered only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also didn't perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percent of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This facility had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility. This may be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These metrics pulled down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
