Facility Inspections
On top of performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home performed at an even higher level in the area of inspections. In fact, it received a nearly flawless inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our highest grades in that category with a score of A+. Our inspection ratings are based on pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that receive favorable grades in this area have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities should not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this facility also was awarded favorable long-term care scores this year. Indeed, we awarded them one of our better scores in that category, with a score of B+. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The next area we analyzed was short-term care, where this nursing home received a grade of B- in this category. In our short-term care grade, we seek to forge a fair measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze the nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. We weren't able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final metric we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
Nurse Quality
The next area we assessed is nursing. This facility was given a grade of C in this category. Our nursing score assesses the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of training of the nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, our nursing scores also factor in some quality-focused measures. We look at the percent of patients who sustained pressure ulcers and major falls.
