Facility Inspections
It should be noted that this facility's inspection grade outpaced its overall grade. We gave it a B+ for its inspections rating, which is one of our better scores. Arguably the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in the industry.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more favorable category scores was in the category of long-term care. In that category, we gave this facility a B+. It actually outperformed most facilities in this category. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 83.27273 percent of its residents. This is somewhat lower than we were hoping for. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. There are many criteria within this grade. Many of the subcategories relate to staffing levels. This particular nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is far below the national average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this place surprisingly fared better in some of the quality measures we looked at. In fact, it performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be measures of the quality of nursing care. In some cases, the quality of nursing care is every bit as important as the number of hours of care offered.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the last area, this nursing home was awarded a grade of C in short-term care, which is an acceptable grade. With our short-term care score, we strive to forge a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we look at the nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
