We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. There are several factors included in this area. Many of the factors relate to the quantity of nurse staffing. This place boasts a really impressive 4.9 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis, of which a significant portion was provided by registered nurses. This is one of the most highly highly skilled levels of nurses. This is one of the better totals of nursing hours we were able to find. On top of providing high levels of care, this nursing home also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any facility in the state when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
On the list of its many impressive scores, this facility received a strong short-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. In the area of short-term care, we attempt to assess measures of a facility's rehabilitation. We assess the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. This facility excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. The facility supplied more care from physical therapists and registered nurses than the average facility. This is an encouraging sign. The last metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who ultimately returned home from the facility. Facility Inspections
This nursing home has had near flawless government inspections in recent years. We gave them an impressive grade of A in this category. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
Moving on to our fourth area, this facility also excelled in the long-term care category. We awarded it an A- in this area. This completed a straight A profile. When nursing homes receive a score in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to live on a permanent basis. After assessing the very impressive nursing hours and other staffing provided by this nursing home, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, we looked at its number of hospitalizations. Here we found that this place had 3.53 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Although this wasn't as impressive as some of its other scores in this category, this figure may be skewed for some facilities due to some of the preexisting medical conditions of residents.
