Places that receive favorable grades in this area typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility also received a top-shelf long-term care grade. This actually turned out to be this facility's second strongest category score. In that category, this facility received a grade of A. When facilities receive this type of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. The nursing score includes numerous datapoints. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spend with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can many times be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to the final area, this nursing home was awarded an extremely favorable short-term care score. While this was not nearly as dominant as a few of its other scores, this remains one of our stronger scores we offer. In crafting these short-term care grades, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. The objective is to devise a tool for comparing the rehabilitation services of various facilities. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.6 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
