Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of faring well overall, this nursing home earned a nearly flawless inspection report. Consequently, it earned one of our best grades in that area with an A+. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be relatively minor. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is what you like to see in this important metric.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

Contributing to this nursing home's list of achievements, it also was awarded a first-rate short-term care grade. We awarded them an elite grade of A- in this area. Short-term care ratings are critical for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically utilizes additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means a wide spectrum of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final item we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients that returned home from the nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Turning to the category of nursing care, this facility didn't perform quite as well in this area as some of the categories discussed above. Nevertheless, a grade of B- in this category is by no means a bad score. The nursing grade assesses a handful of subcategories, many of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, our nursing scores also consider quality-based metrics, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this nursing home performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a facility has sufficient quality controls in place. Many falls can be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses to assist its patients.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final category we analyzed is this facility's worst area. Nevertheless, even in its worst category we still awarded it an acceptable grade of B- in long-term care. If you are seeking anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care ratings. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. This facility keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
