Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out the fact that this nursing home has earned nearly flawless inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A in this area. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area typically have very few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You really can not go wrong with a deficiency-free inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Compounding its high-end performance in other areas, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for its short-term care score. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including the ones performed by registered nurses and physical, occupational and other therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its strong resume, this facility also received an excellent nursing score, with a grade of A-. Nursing grades are mostly associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we scored was long-term care. We gave this facility an acceptable grade in that category, with a grade of B-. Even though this is not as favorable as many of this facility's other scores, it is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. Long-term care grades assess a nursing home's personal care rather than the highly skilled therapy and healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 98.290596 percent of its patients, which is an above average datapoint. Lastly, this nursing home was also able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
