Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a C for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some are quite minor. This place was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to find that none were in categories J through L. This indicates that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to place patient health or safety in immediate harm or jeopardy. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C. Nursing grades are largely associated with the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also weighed some quality-based assessments. This place performed well in some of the quality-based metrics we assessed. For example, in terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this nursing home outpaced the national average. This is typically a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided with better nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second lowest category is long-term care, where it earned just a D in that category. This is a well below average grade. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this nursing home vaccinated just 74.14966 percent of its patients, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Lastly, we looked at the nursing home's number of hospitalizations. We found that this place had 2.33 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this figure is also alarming.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we rated was short-term care. This facility was given a bottom of the barrel grade of F in that area. Our short-term care ratings are considered to be most important for individuals needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation typically utilizes more skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not merely nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. With its abysmal grade in this area, we weren't surprised to find this nursing home offers far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. The final datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 37.8 percent of its patients returning home.
