Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this ended up being a strong nursing home is that it received a very impressive inspection grade. Inspections is its best category. In this area, we gave it an A. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

This facility was given a strong short-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. In determining our short-term care grades, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is generally a meaningful assessment of the nursing home's rehabilitation services. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

This facility received a very good nursing grade this year as well. It received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. Our nursing score looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of the nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to our next category, this facility was awarded a highly favorable long-term care score. This nursing home didn't end up having any weak areas. For prospective residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 79.06976 percent of its residents. This is somewhat less than we expected. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, we were pleased to find facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
