Nursing homes that score well in this category typically have very few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these nursing homes generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. Adding to its dominant profile, this nursing home also excelled in our short-term care category. In fact, we awarded it a score of A for the category. With our short-term care grade, we try to forge a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the facility's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The final datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients that returned home from the nursing home. This proved to be more of a strength for this facility. This place performed as well as just about any nursing home in Illinois in this area with 71.4 percent of its patients returning home.

The third area we analyzed is long-term care. Adding to its dominant profile, this nursing home also excelled in that area. In fact, we awarded it a grade of of A- for the category. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. On top of looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Unfortunately, we were not able to find information on vaccination rates. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

In the last category we analyzed, this nursing home was given a very favorable grade of B+ in our nursing category. With this score, the facility topped off a very impressive profile. The nursing grade considers a variety of factors. The most heavily weighted one is the number of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home provides 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls.
