Facility Inspections
To go along with its favorable overall score, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for our inspections rating. Inspection grades account for several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with better grades in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. While this place had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home also received favorable short-term care scores this year. In fact, we gave them one of our stronger scores in that area, with a score of B+. Our short-term care grades are important for residents needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally utilizes additional skilled nursing. This includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. It doesn't look like this nursing home submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility received a favorable long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our better grades in that area with a grade of B+. When nursing homes receive this type of grade in long-term care it is typically a good sign for patient care and suggests that the nursing home is well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the criteria we considered after nursing hours is vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 100 percent of its residents. This is a great way to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The last category we assessed is this facility's worst area. However, even in its weakest link we still gave it an acceptable grade of B- in our nursing category. There are many criteria within this grade. Most of these criteria reflect staffing levels. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Finally, nursing grades also factor in quality-based measures, such as avoiding major falls. Despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often an indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place. Some falls can be avoided if a facility supplies enough nurses aids to assist its residents.
