Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place really excelled in the category of inspections, where it received a grade of A. Few facilities performed better in this category. Our inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher grades in this area usually have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means CMS didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Another one of this nursing home's higher category scores came in the area of long-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a B+. It actually outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to patients. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is much higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

This category is often a meaningful measure of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Unfortunately, we weren't able to track down registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. The last metric we looked at in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the nursing home and return home. We discovered that just 5.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
Nurse Quality
This facility's worst area is nursing, which is the final area we scored. For this area, we awarded this facility a D. Our nursing rating is largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This facility averaged just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. On top of receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this place was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and found this place was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
