Facility Inspections
On top of being an elite nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A+. Very few places performed this well in this area. Inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it does not look like we have deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

In addition, this nursing home was given quality marks in the category of long-term care. As a result, it was given one of our best grades in that category with a score of A+. Facilities that excel in long-term care typically are well-staffed and offer extensive hands on care to residents. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is far higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

While this wasn't nearly as impressive as many of its other grades, this is nevertheless one of our more impressive scores in that area. With our short-term care grade, we strive to craft a valuable measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home.
