Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

Although we did not rate this facility highly overall, we want to draw your attention to its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an A- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies can be quite insignificant. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This nursing home's second highest area turned out to be long-term care. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a C. In a long-term care setting, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 96.21212 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This nursing home was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. When determining a facility's nursing rating, we consider the amount of time nurses are caring for patients and the level of licensure of those nurses. This facility offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is well below average. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we scored was short-term care, in which this nursing home received an abysmal score in this area also. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this area, which is definitely somewhat alarming. With our short-term care grade, we try to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients that eventually returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
