One of the reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is as good as it gets in this critical area. Our inspection grades are tied to items located in the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. There are several factors included in this category. Most of these criteria are tied to the quantity of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the state in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be avoided by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of moving patients at least once a day.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we assessed is short-term care. We awarded this facility an acceptable grade in this area, with a C. While this wasn't as high as some of this nursing home's other grades, it is nevertheless not a bad grade. Short-term care grades are commonly used to score a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer high-end rehabilitation services, facilities generally must have higher levels of skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 3.6 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
