Facility Inspections
To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this category usually have very few severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
This facility received a strong long-term care score as well. We awarded it one of our higher grades in that category with a grade of B+. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically are well-staffed and provide extensive hands on care to residents. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 97.76119 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia sadly can be a life or death condition for nursing home patients so we strongly prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of short-term care, where it was awarded a score of B+. It performed more favorably than most facilities in this area. In calculating our short-term care scores, we size up the facility's levels of skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is typically a useful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who returned home from the nursing home. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
The next area we graded is nursing, where this facility was given a C. This actually proved to be this facility's weakest area. This is still not a major area of concern. Nursing scores are largely associated with the nursing home's nurse staffing. This place provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is a somewhat concerning figure as it is well below average. Lastly, while this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of our quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared well in this area.
