Facility Inspections
While we gave this place a terrible overall score, we gave it a B for our inspections category. This was the result of the nursing home receiving a decent inspection report this year. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively insignificant. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we gave this facility an D. In computing a nursing home's nursing rating, we assess the number of hours nurses are with patients as well as the levels of training of those nurses. This nursing home provided only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Short-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this nursing home only received a D for its short-term care score, which is not one of our better scores. With our short-term care rating, we strive to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we were not stunned to find that this nursing home was well below average in terms of the number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. Honestly, this was what we expected here. Lastly, we considered the number of residents who eventually returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we rated is long-term care. This facility received a poor grade of F in this category. Facilities that receive this kind of score in long-term care may not provide the kind of consistent 24/7 care that some other facilities provide. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this facility provided the vaccine to just 78.37838 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
