A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most skilled levels of nurses. We are really impressed by both of these statistics. In addition to providing impressive levels of care, this nursing home was also above average in several of the major quality measures we looked at in this category. For example, it performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. These are generally reliable measures of the quality of nursing care a nursing home provides.
Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of of A+ for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care grade is commonly used to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have better levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by offering more care from registered nurses to its residents than the average facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who returned to the community from this nursing home. It outperformed the majority of nursing homes in the country in this area with 54.2 percent of its residents returning home.
Long-term Care Quality
Turning to the next category, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category. In fact, we awarded it an A for this category. This finalized truly elite report card. Nursing homes that receive this type of grade in long-term care typically provide consistent around the clock care to make sure residents are well cared for. In addition to patient-friendly nursing hour statistics, this facility's vaccination data is as good as it gets as well. In fact, it vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.76 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
