Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
We would like to point out that this nursing home's nursing grade exceeded its overall grade. This nursing home earned a B+ in this category, which is one of our better grades. The nursing score includes many components, most of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Facility Inspections
This facility's inspection rating exceeded its overall grade as well. We awarded them one of our better scores in that category, with a B. This is a better score than the facility's overall grade. Our inspection grades account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this category tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. You really can not do much better than a deficiency-free inspection report.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also received a positive long-term care grade. Indeed, we awarded it a B in that category, which happens to be one of our more favorable scores. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 80.71749 percent of its patients, which is a bit less than we anticipated. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Short-term Care Quality
Our last area is short-term care, in which we gave this nursing home a B- in that category. Our short-term care ratings are probably most critical for patients needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find registered nurse or physical therapy staffing data for this place. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this facility's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this figure is below average.
