Although this place's overall score was as bad as it gets, it performed pretty well in the category of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that area, which is one of our better scores. Our inspection scores are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid nursing homes that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

This nursing home really excelled in nursing, where it earned an C. Few facilities fared better in this category. Our nursing score is mostly associated with the facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 2.6 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is generally a reliable indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Tragically, we gave this facility an F for its short-term care grade. In determining our short-term care grades, we scrutinize the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing services, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This score is considered to be a fair assessment of a nursing home's ability to rehabilitate patients. Given its score in this area, we weren't stunned to learn that this nursing home was well below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours offered to its residents based on the data we assessed. The last datapoint we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 18.9 percent of its residents returning home.

Historical

The final category we analyzed was long-term care. This facility was given an abysmal grade of F in this category. When nursing homes receive this type of score in long-term care it is a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the facility's vaccination records. We were concerned by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated just 90.350876 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this place was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
