We also wanted to point out the fact that this facility has received near flawless health inspections recently. We awarded them an A+ in this category. Our inspection grades are tied to pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places that score well in this area typically have very few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these facilities generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with risks to patient safety. While this place had some minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
To complement its top-shelf assessments in other areas, we awarded this facility a grade of A for its short-term care score. In calculating our short-term care scores, we look at the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This category is generally a fair measure of the facility's rehabilitation. This facility excelled in the two key staffing areas we looked at. In fact, it offered more care from registered nurses and physical therapists than the typical nursing home. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in this area with 73.3 percent of its patients returning home. This is a significantly higher rate than most facilities.
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of hours the nurses worked with residents, in determining our grade in this area. This nursing home provides an incredible 4.9 hours of nursing care per resident daily. Very few nursing homes provide this quantity of nursing care to their patients. Out of that total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this facility also excelled in the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed as well as any nursing home in the country in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a decent grade in this area, with a B-. While this wasn't as strong as some of this facility's other grades, it is still a middle of the pack score. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. One of the factors we considered after nurse's aid hours is vaccines. It does not appear that this facility submitted information on its vaccination levels. Finally, this place keeps its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
