To pair with a strong overall grade, we gave this facility a grade of A+ for our inspection category. Our inspection grades account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better grades in this area typically have few severe deficiencies. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

We looked at the qualifications of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses worked with patients, in computing our rating in this category. This nursing home averages 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can typically be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Moving on our third category, we awarded this nursing home a score of A for our long-term care rating. This is a first-rate grade. When nursing homes receive this kind of grade in long-term care it is a good sign for resident care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 96.77419 percent of its patients, which is better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

In the last category we analyzed, this nursing home received a very strong grade of A- in our short-term care category. With this score, the facility rounded out a straight A report card. In the category of short-term care, we try to assess indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and various therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last metric we looked at in this area is the number of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
