Nurse Quality
We also wanted to emphasize the fact that this facility excelled in our nursing rating. We awarded them an impressive grade of A+ in this category. We assessed the skill-level of nurses at the facility, as well as the number of hours those nurses were with residents, in determining our rating in this area. This facility provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a very impressive statistic which typically corresponds with quality care. Lastly, this nursing home also excelled in the quality measures we looked at. It performed as well as any nursing home North Dakota when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Facility Inspections
This facility also earned an A+ inspection score, making it one of the few nursing homes to receive multiple A+'s in our categories. Our inspection scores weigh several factors found on a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this area tend to have few of these severe deficiencies. It does not appear that we were able to find deficiency counts for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
We also would like to alert you to the fact that this nursing home received a superb grade of A in our long-term care area. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. On top of offering very favorable levels of nursing care, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Lastly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
Short-term Care Quality
The fourth area we scored was short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of A-. This completed a first-rate profile. Not many nursing homes received an A- or higher in every category. Our short-term care grades are crucial for people in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a vast spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. One reason for this facility's strong score in this category is that it provides more care with registered nurses to its residents than the average nursing home. Lastly, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
