Medical Staff Hours Per Patient (2019)
Nurse Quality
We also wanted to note that this facility received an A for our nursing rating. Our nursing score weighs many components, however, the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided 4.2 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is among the highest totals in the country. A significant percentage of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which are one of the most highly skilled levels of nurses. We were very impressed by both of these statistics. In addition to providing impressive levels of care, this nursing home was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we looked at in this category. By way of illustration, it performed well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. These are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care a facility provides.
Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This place was hit with 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be severe. This means that the government inspectors didn't deem any of these deficiencies to be an immediate threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was awarded a dominant short-term care score. Indeed, this ended up being its third most impressive category grade. In that area, this facility received a grade of A-. In the area of short-term care, we try to qualify measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This nursing home elevated its grade in this category by providing more care from registered nurses to its residents than a typical nursing home. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 43.6 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed turned out to be this nursing home's weakest area. Nevertheless, even in its weakest link we still awarded it a decent grade of B- in our long-term care category. Long-term care grades are used to judge a nursing home's performance as a traditional convalescent home, as opposed to focusing more on the skilled nursing services offered by a skilled nursing facility. After assessing the impressive nursing care provided by this nursing home, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 99.65871 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is higher than many nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the nursing home's number of hospitalizations. We found that this nursing home had 2.5 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, this figure was less impressive than its other scores in the long-term care area.
