Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

In addition to being a first rate nursing home overall, this facility also performed well in the area of inspections, where it earned an A+. Few facilities performed as well in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple relatively minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Adding to its elite resume, this facility also performed well in our short-term care area. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. Our short-term care ratings are crucial for patients in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. This means a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to return home from the facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our nursing rating is primarily based on the facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The next area we analyzed was long-term care. In that area, we awarded this facility a favorable grade of B. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we assessed the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 99.425285 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
