Facility Inspections
In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this nursing home excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection ratings. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively minor. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home was given high grades in the area of short-term care as well. As a result, it received one of our most dominant scores in that category with a area of A-. In our short-term care rating, we try to create a meaningful measure for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that were able to return home from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of B-. This facility didn't perform quite as well in this category as it did in some other categories. Nevertheless, this is still a respectable score. Our nursing score includes several datapoints. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality measures. While this facility got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in some of these quality-based measures. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared well in this metric. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a system of turning a patient even once per day.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we looked at was long-term care. This facility was awarded a grade of B- in the category. In forming these long-term care grades, we quantify the nursing home's ability to maintain its permanent residents' health and quality of life. After considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is more than the average nursing home. This place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
