Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall score. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid facilities with too many severe deficiencies flagged. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even with this deficiency, this place still had a relatively positive report.
Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility's next most favorable score is long-term care. Nevertheless, with a grade of D in this category, it still fared relatively badly. For prospective patients in need of a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Thankfully, this nursing home vaccinated 98.71383 percent of its patients, which is a very solid datapoint. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. We analyzed the skill-level of nurses working for the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses were with patients, in computing our grade in this area. This place provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient per day. This is an alarmingly low total. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This facility performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we rated is short-term care. It received a lowly F in this area, which is a very poor score. In computing our short-term care grades, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This category is more often than not a reliable assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Given its poor rating in this area, we were not shocked to learn this nursing home provides significantly fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Finally, we looked at the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
