Nurse Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received an A+ nursing grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Our nursing grade is based on the nursing home's nurse staffing levels. We consider both the levels of training of the nurses and the quantity of hours spent with residents. This facility provides an incredible 5.5 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Out of this total, many of the hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the most highly highly trained levels of nurses. On top of providing impressive levels of care, this facility also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we looked at. With under 5 percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the state in this category.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a score of A+ for its long-term care grade. Nursing homes that do well in long-term care typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of providing very favorable levels of nursing care and other staffing, this facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 97.34042 percent of its patients. This statistic is also far better than the vast majority of nursing homes. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.18 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than many nursing homes.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning our next area, we awarded this nursing home a score of A- for its short-term care grade. This is a dominant grade. In determining our short-term care ratings, we assess a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This area is considered to be a reliable assessment of a facility's rehabilitation services. When we assessed this facility's nursing hours, we found it offered substantially more care from registered nurses than most nursing homes. The final item we assessed in this category is the number of patients who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home rather than remaining at the facility permanently.
Facility Inspections
On top of its other impressive category grades, we gave this nursing home a grade of B+ for its inspection rating. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this facility had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
