To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This facility really excelled in the category of long-term care, where it received a score of A-. Not many facilities performed better in this category. For long-term care residents, the primary goal is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to looking at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 90.515465 percent of its patients. This is slightly below what we expected. Fortunately, this nursing home excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had just 1.15 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a much better hospitalization rate than the majority of nursing homes.

This nursing home's next best category was nursing. We awarded it a grade of B- in this category. While this wasn't quite as good as some of its other category grades, this isn't a bad score either. Our nursing grade weighs a handful of factors, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home averages 3.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at a few nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these metrics. With less than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this subcategory. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be avoided by providing better nursing care, such as employing a protocol of turning a patient even once per day.

Moving on to the next category, this nursing home didn't perform well. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in that category, this is notably its worst area. Short-term care grades are generally employed to measure a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other licensed professionals. We found that this nursing home was subpar in several staffing areas we focus on. It provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The last measure we assessed in this category is the number of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 12.8 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.
