Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility really outperformed its overall score in the category of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best scores in that area with an A+. Arguably the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this category typically dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Although this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. A few minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Additionally, we also would like to point out that this facility was awarded positive long-term care marks in this assessment. We awarded them one of our more favorable grades in that area, with a grade of B+. This turned out to be the facility's second strongest grade. Facilities that receive this type of score in long-term care tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 87.45644 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Next we wanted to quickly point out one of this facility's major weaknesses. In the area of nursing care, we gave this nursing home a lowly grade of F. Our nursing rating considers several factors. The most important factor is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Turning to our last category, this facility didn't perform well. Due to a poor grade of F in short-term care, this was its worst category. Our short-term care grades are based on a facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The final measure we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 3.3 percent of its residents returning home.
