Facility Inspections
One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received an A+ in our inspections category. This is as good as it gets in this category. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Even some of the best nursing homes receive an occasional ding on their inspection report.
Nurse Quality
To complement its strong performance in other areas, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. Our nursing rating is largely based on a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility New Hampshire in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of moving residents at least once a day.

Long-term Care Quality
We also would like to alert you to the fact that this nursing home was awarded an impressive grade of A in our long-term care area. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it's well-staffed and is a quality place to live on a permanent basis. After looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents healthy. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Short-term Care Quality
Turning to the last area, this nursing home was given a strong short-term care score. We awarded it an A- in this area, giving this facility straight A's. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. In order to have highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to offer better levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We discovered that 4.9 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
