Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our short-term care rating. Short-term care grades are critical for people seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This includes a vast range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this place provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. The final datapoint we looked at in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 6.2 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this facility only received a grade of D for its nursing grade, which was actually one of its better category grades. Our nursing category assesses many components, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. With just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, this place's nurse staffing levels were far below the national average. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this place's inspection rating where it received a lowly F. This often means we found some red flags on its government inspections. You should pay close attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection score. We recommend you scrutinize the severity of the deficiencies. This facility was assessed one category J through K deficiency, which are among the worst deficiencies. In addition to having severe deficiencies, this nursing home was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. This is generally a really bad sign. We would never recommend this facility.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next area we scored is long-term care, in which this nursing home was given a very poor score here as well. It received an F for this category, which is obviously somewhat alarming. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this facility gave the vaccine to a relatively low 71.15903 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This is its best feature in this category.
