While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. In computing our nursing scores, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 3.7 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also considered some quality-based metrics. This place scored well in some of the quality measures we looked at. For example, in terms of the percentage of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is often an indicator that a facility has quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can often be avoided with better nursing care.

We were also pleasantly surprised to learn that this nursing home earned a somewhat respectable long-term care grade in our assessment. We gave it a C in that category. With our long-term care category, we focus on the quantity of care provided by a facility, along with a series of qualitative datapoints. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 82.97298 percent of its patients. This is pretty significantly below the national average. The last datapoint we assessed is the nursing home's hospitalization rate. We found that this nursing home had 1.9 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is also slightly below the national average.

This nursing home did not receive favorable inspection reports in recent years. In fact, it only received a grade of D for its inspection grade. Our inspection grades factor in many items on the nursing home's inspection reports. If you see too many deficiencies on the inspection reports, this is typically a bad sign. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to resident safety. This nursing home was assessed 3 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we can say is that none of the deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they posed a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility also received 13 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.

Historical

The last area we scored was short-term care, in which this facility received a very poor score here also. It received an abysmal F for this category, which is obviously a major concern. In our short-term care category, we endeavor to craft a fair gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess a nursing home's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Based on its grade in this category, we were not stunned to learn that this place is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its patients based on the measures we looked at. Lastly, we assessed the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 40 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, about half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
