Facility Inspections
We also wanted to point out that this facility earned near flawless inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it does not look like we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, this facility was given superb marks in the area of short-term care. Consequently, it was given one of our most impressive grades in that area with a grade of A+. In our short-term care assessment, we try to forge a fair barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we analyze a nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.9 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
We also wanted to alert you to the fact that this facility received a strong grade of A in our long-term care area. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 97.22222 percent of its residents, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia is too frequently a dangerous illness for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave this to chance. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
The fourth area we looked at is nursing, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of A-. This finished off an elite profile. Few facilities earned an A- or better in each of our categories. Our nursing grade considers a variety of subcategories. The most heavily weighted factor is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
