Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

We also wanted to point out that this facility earned near flawless inspections recently. We gave them an impressive grade of A+ in this area. Our inspection grades account for several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher scores in this area tend to have very few of these severe deficiencies. Unfortunately, it does not look like we were able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

In addition, this nursing home was given dominant marks in the area of long-term care. Consequently, it was given one of our best scores in that category with a score of A+. Nursing homes that receive this kind of score in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to ensure residents are well cared for. In addition to considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.0566 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is too frequently a life threatening ailment for nursing home residents so we prefer when a nursing home doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning our third category, we gave this facility a grade of A for its short-term care grade. This is a dominant grade. Short-term care grades are commonly used to measure a nursing home's rehabilitation services To have high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it looks like this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last item we considered in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 6.2 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

In the last category we graded, this nursing home was given a very strong grade of A in our nursing category. With this score, the facility finished off a straight A report card. When determining a facility's nursing rating, we weigh the amount of time nurses are caring for patients as well as the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some quality-based measures in this category. This place fared well in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. By way of illustration, in terms of the number of its patients suffering from pressure ulcers, this place performed better than the national average. This is generally an indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Pressure ulcers can many times be avoided with better nursing care.
