Short-term Care Quality
In addition to being a strong nursing home overall, this facility also excelled in the area of short-term care, where it received an elite grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this category. Short-term care scores are based in part on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more than seven hours of care per week from registered nurses to each resident. This is really the gold standard in this area, as it's about 50% higher than the average facility's level of registered nurse staffing. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents that were able to return home from this nursing home. This place fared as well as just about any facility in this area with 63.8 percent of its patients returning home.
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In fact, nursing turned out to be its second best category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of A+. We looked at the levels of nurses at the nursing home, in addition to the number of hours those nurses spent with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This facility provides an incredible 4.6 hours of nursing care per resident each day. Out of this total, many of those hours were provided by registered nurses, which is one of the more highly trained levels of nurses. In addition to providing high levels of nursing care, this place also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. It performed as well as any facility in the state when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.

Long-term Care Quality
Turning the page to our third area, this nursing home received an excellent long-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. For patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. It does not appear that this facility submitted vaccination data. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
In the last category we looked at, we found that this facility earned a solid government inspection report this year as well, with few major dings from government inspectors. As a result, it received a decent grade in inspections with a B. This facility didn't have any major weak links. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be quite insignificant. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
