Nurse Quality
In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this nursing home earned even higher marks in nursing. In fact, it received one of our best grades in this category with an A. Our nursing rating considers several factors. The most important factor is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a policy of turning a resident even once per day.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility fared well in the category of short-term care. In fact, we awarded it a score of A for that area, which turns out to be one of our most favorable grades. Our short-term care grades are believed to be most critical for individuals needing rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. This means not only nursing services, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.

Long-term Care Quality
Moving on our third category, this nursing home was awarded a favorable long-term care score. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a A-. For residents in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. After looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. It doesn't look like this nursing home provided information about vaccinations. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
Finally, we also found that this nursing home has earned favorable inspections in recent years. In fact, we gave it a grade of B- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection ratings. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite insignificant. This particular nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
