Facility Inspections
Although we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we want to point out its decent health inspection reports in recent years. We gave it a somewhat respectable score of B- in this category. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some are relatively minor. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, CMS flagged this nursing home for possible abuse or neglect. This is not what you want to see. We advise you to direct your search elsewhere.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. In that category, we gave this facility an B-. In calculating a facility's nursing score, we look at the amount of time nurses are seeing patients as well as the level of skill of the nurses. This facility averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient per day, which is a very low figure. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home surprisingly fared better in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It performed well in the area of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these areas to be reliable measures of the quality of nursing care. In many cases, the quality of nursing care is just as important as the quantity of hours of care provided.

Short-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a decent grade in the category of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. Short-term care grades are commonly used to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services To offer quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have better levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. Unfortunately, we found that this nursing home provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most other facilities. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents who returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below the national average.
Long-term Care Quality
Our last category is long-term care, where we gave this facility a grade of B- in this area. Long-term care grades assess a nursing home's personal care rather than the skilled nursing and healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. On top of considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home gave the vaccine to 91.08818 percent of its residents. This is a few points less than we expected but still a decent percentage. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
