Registered Staff Hours
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. We would argue that one of the most important factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. On top of having severe deficiencies, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home also didn't perform terribly in the category of long-term care. Indeed, we awarded it a grade of B- in that area, which wound up being among its more favorable grades. For patients seeking a permanent residence rather than rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. This facility keeps its patients out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. The nursing rating assesses many factors, most of which are based on nursing hours. This nursing home provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident on a daily basis. This is an alarmingly low total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the final category, this nursing home did not perform well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In computing our short-term care scores, we analyze the facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists respiratory therapists and other types of therapists. This area is frequently a meaningful assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely wasn't a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.4 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. At most nursing homes, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
