Facility Inspections
The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall score is its impeccable inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better grades in that category, with an A. This is a much better grade than the place's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. Perhaps the most critical factor we look at in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This particular nursing home received 7 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we also wanted to point out that this nursing home received strong long-term care marks this year. We awarded them one of our higher grades in that category, with a B+. This turned out to be the facility's second highest grade. When facilities receive this type of score in this category it is usually a good sign for patient care and suggests that the place is well-staffed with nurses aids. One of the statistics we considered after nursing hours was vaccines. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccination to 99.7151 percent of its residents. Vaccination is a reliable method to avoid unnecessary deaths for the nursing home population. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. Our nursing category includes quite a few components, many of which are tied to quantities of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a relatively low total compared to most other facilities. Lastly, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics. Although this place got docked a bit for nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared remarkably well in this metric. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning a resident more frequently.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area is short-term care, which is the final category we analyzed. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of just D. Short-term care scores are meaningful for prospective residents looking for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates higher levels of skilled nursing. This includes a wide scope of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. Lastly, we assessed the number of residents that ultimately were able to return home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
