This nursing home also received a fine short-term care grade. In fact, this ended up being its second most impressive category grade. In that area, this facility received a score of A-. Our short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other variations of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is physical therapy hours. We found that it offers at least 50% more hours with physical therapists to its residents than most other facilities. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who returned home from this facility. On top of excelling in the area of physical therapy staffing, we found that it fared as well as just about any nursing home in the country with 65 percent of its residents returning home.

Turning our next category, this facility was given first-rate long-term care score. In fact, we gave it a score of A- in this category. Long-term care ratings in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.90351 percent of its patients, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a deadly illness for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not take any chances. Lastly, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.08 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.

The fourth area we looked at is nursing, where this facility received a B+. This finished off a very favorable profile. Not many facilities received a B+ or better in all four categories. In calculating a nursing home's nursing score, we weigh the quantity of hours nurses are seeing patients and the levels of training of the nurses. This particular nursing home provided 3.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
