Facility Inspections

Grade: B-minus

Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a B- for our inspections rating. In fact, the facility received very impressive inspection report this year. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

Remarkably, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our nursing rating, which isn't a bad grade. Our nursing grade is mostly tied to the facility's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This figure is significantly below the national average. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours, this place actually performed admirably in the area of preventing major falls. This is typically an indicator that a nursing home has sufficient quality controls in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Sadly, this nursing home only earned a D for its short-term care rating, which is not an impressive grade. Short-term care grades are often employed to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services To offer high-end rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must offer higher levels of skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that just 3.4 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The next category we scored was long-term care, where this facility was given a very poor grade in this area also. Unfortunately, we gave it an abysmal F in this category, which is definitely very concerning. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids. After considering the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. We were somewhat surprised to discover that this nursing home vaccinated only 88.32298 percent of its patients against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. This was its best feature in this category.
