Facility Inspections

Grade: B

While we graded this nursing home incredibly poorly overall, it earned a relatively impressive government inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our better scores in that category with a grade of B. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing these inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Despite this deficiency, this place still received a relatively favorable report.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

Remarkably, we gave this nursing home a C for its short-term care score, which isn't too bad of a score. Our short-term care grades are important for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates additional highly-skilled nursing. This includes a wide range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The last item we considered in this area is the number of patients that ultimately were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 5.8 percent of this facility's residents returned home.

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. The nursing rating analyzes a handful of components, however, the main consideration is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This facility provided a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is well below average. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing grades. This facility fared well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

The last category we scored was long-term care, where this facility received a rock bottom score here as well. Unfortunately, we gave it an F in this category, which is definitely a major concern. When facilities receive this kind of score in long-term care it is often a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit alarmed this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 72.289154 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this place was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
