Short-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this proved to be a quality nursing home is that it received a very impressive short-term care grade. In fact, short-term care is its best category. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an A. Our short-term care grade is typically used to gauge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. In order to offer highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally need to provide better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we looked at in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We found that 5.8 percent of this facility's patients returned home.
Facility Inspections
Adding to its impressive grades, we awarded this facility an A- for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection scores. One critical factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home received 4 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality
Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. Our nursing grade analyzes quite a few factors, but the main consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final category, we gave this nursing home a grade of D for our long-term care category. This was the facility's weakest category score. Nevertheless, you shouldn't dwell on one weak score. When facilities receive this type of grade in this category it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the facility is not as well-staffed. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. We were a bit worried that this nursing home vaccinated 90.57971 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which happens to be quite a bit below what we expected. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.
