Short-term Care Quality
Although we gave this facility a terrible overall grade, we awarded it a grade of C for our short-term care rating. Our short-term care ratings are probably more meaningful for folks requiring a nursing home for rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes not only nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, we found that this facility provided fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. The final item we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who ultimately were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home. This figure was below the national average.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a grade of C. In computing our nursing ratings, we weigh both nursing hours and the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides only 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a somewhat concerning figure as it is well below the national average. Lastly, while this facility got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it actually excelled in some of our quality-based measures. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed very well in this subcategory.

Facility Inspections
Sadly, this facility received a grade of just D in our inspection category. This is well below average grade. One of the more critical factors in evaluating an inspection report is deficiencies. We would scrutinize the severity of those deficiencies. This particular facility was hit with 5 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we can say is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they created a threat to resident safety or health. Finally, this facility also received 13 substantiated complaints in recent years. This is yet another bad sign.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we looked at is long-term care, where this nursing home received a poor score in this area as well. We gave it an abysmal F for this category, which is definitely a major disappointment. Long-term care ratings of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 81.386856 percent of its residents. This is several points less than what we were hoping for. To our surprise, this facility was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had just 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
