One reason this proved to be a quality facility is that it received a very impressive short-term care rating. In fact, this turned out to be its best category. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B+. Our short-term care ratings are based on the facility's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This means a broad scope of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who eventually returned home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's patients returned home.

This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B+. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. Our nursing score is mostly associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this facility excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can frequently be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a protocol of turning a patient more frequently.

Turning to another of this facility's strengths, it also received a very impressive inspection grade. In that category, we awarded this facility a grade of B+. Perhaps the most important factor we consider in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with better scores in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L.
