Facility Inspections
While we were fairly low on this facility overall, we awarded it an A for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the facility's overall score. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively insignificant. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.
Nurse Quality
We also ended up giving this facility a fairly respectable grade in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of C. Our nursing score is largely tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low figure. Lastly, while this facility got dinged a bit for nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality metrics. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it fared well in this metric.

Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's second worse score was long-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that category. This is a well below average score. If you are looking for anything other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care grades. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 96.503494 percent of its patients, which is higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. To our surprise, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility has fewer hospitalizations than most nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in this category were not as favorable as these.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we assessed was short-term care, which proved to be a weak spot for this nursing home. We gave this nursing home a grade of just D for the area of short-term care. Our short-term care grades are arguably most important for residents in need of rehabilitation from their nursing home. Rehabilitation generally mandates additional skilled nursing services. This includes not merely nursing services, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides significantly less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than a typical nursing home. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. This definitely was not a strength for this facility. We found that just 4.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home. At most facilities, around half of their residents are able to return home so this is well below average.
