Facility Inspections
To go along with its relatively modest overall grade, we gave this facility an A for our inspections rating. This score is far more impressive than its overall grade. Our inspection scores weigh a host of factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. While this facility had some deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor leaves us less concerned with this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
Another one of this facility's more favorable category grades was in the category of short-term care. In that area, we awarded this nursing home a B. It actually outperformed most facilities in this area. Our short-term care ratings are based on a facility's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide range of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.3 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality
We also gave this nursing home a decent score in the category of nursing care, with a grade of B-. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the amount of time spent with residents. This facility provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a lower figure than we were hoping for. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this nursing home actually excelled in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at. It scored well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
The final area we looked at was long-term care, ended up being this facility's worst category. We awarded this nursing home a grade of D in that area. This really was one of just a couple of dings on an otherwise strong profile. For prospective patients in need of a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 99.69231 percent of its residents. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, some of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
