Facility Inspections
Although this facility's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually received a very good grade in the area of inspections. We awarded it a B+ for that area, which is one of our better grades. Inspection scores are based on several pieces of information found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies associated with risks to resident well being. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next most favorable category is long-term care, but even there it earned a grade of just D in that category. This turns out to be a well below average score. For prospective residents looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 98.943665 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than many nursing homes. Unfortunately, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality
We awarded this nursing home a grade of just D for our short-term care score. This is well below average in this category. In our short-term care category, we seek to create a sound gauge for rehabilitation. In doing so, we assess the facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. As you might expect, we found that this place offers substantially less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from the facility. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 4.6 percent of its residents returning home.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the fourth area, this facility really did not fare very well in this area either. Due to a very poor grade of F in nursing, this is about as bad as it gets. There are a host of subcategories included in this grade. Most of the factors reflect nurse staffing. This place provided only 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. On top of rating below average in nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also had poor scores in the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percent of patients experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This place was at approximately 150 percent of the national average in both of these data points. This is likely a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. These statistics pulled down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
