Facility Inspections
On top of being a strong nursing home overall, this nursing home also excelled in our inspections category, where it received an A. Not many facilities fared better in that area. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating our inspection grades. One key factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' scale. A few relatively minor dings are not something to panic about.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility is also above average in the category of short-term care, where it received a grade of B+. It outpaced most nursing homes in this category. Our short-term care grade is commonly employed to grade a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer quality rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients who who were able to eventually return home from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.
Nurse Quality
This facility's next best category grade came in the area of nursing. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. This wasn't quite on par with some of its other category grades mentioned above. Our nursing score assesses the facility's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of licensure of those nurses and the number of hours spent with patients. This place provided just 0 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a relatively low total compared with most other facilities. Lastly, we also baked a few quality measures into our nursing scores. This place was relatively weak in a few of the major metrics we look at, with below average scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These areas are often good indicators of the quality of nursing care offered.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we rated is long-term care. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. Long-term care grades focus on a nursing home's assistance with daily living instead of the highly skilled nursing or healthcare services that are critical to a skilled nursing facility. In addition to assessing the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is better than most nursing homes. Finally, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 1.15 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than most nursing homes.
